Data Recovery FAQ
Here are the answers to some commonly asked questions
Q. Why should I choose Data Detect over any other data recovery company? |
A. With over 10 years experience of every kind of data emergency we can boast the highest success rate and the fastest turnaround time in the business. Furthermore, our "No Recovery, No Charge" guarantee and an assurance of confidentiality means that you can rest assured your data is in the safest hands possible.
Q. Should I try and recover the data myself or have my technician run a data recovery utility on my drive before I send it to a lab? |
A. No. You run a high risk of further corrupting data by using utility programs or standard recovery procedures. Many untrained data recovery programmers assume a drive is optimized both mechanically and electrically. A utility may even attempt to repair things that are not corrupted risking further irretrievable data loss or corruption by overwriting unstable files. As soon as you suspect a drive may be corrupted, call us straight away.
Q. My drive is making an unusual noise. Should I have it opened to see what's going on? |
A. Opening any drive unit outside of a clean room is most likely to result in complete loss of data and your drive becoming no more than an expensive paperweight. A drive should always be worked on in a completely "clean" environment and handled by a technician with expert knowledge of its mechanics.
Q. How will I get my data back? |
A. We will place your recovered data on any suitable replacement media of your choice such as another hard drive, CDROM, DVD, or by FTP transfer.
Q. How can I ensure that I won't lose valuable data in the future? |
A. Failures are a fact of life, but you can mitigate the
risk of data loss with a disaster prevention and recovery
plan. Be sure to back up your data and always keep Data Detect's
emergency number close by: +27 (0)76 908 5219.
